Hope Valley Country Club was established in 1926 in Durham, built around an 18-hole course designed by Donald Ross (laid out 1925-26). It was a rare comprehensive Ross project where he helped plan the entire surrounding neighborhood. The club hosted the 1945 Durham Open, won by Byron Nelson during his record eleven consecutive PGA Tour victories.
