About Lenoir Golf Club
Lenoir Golf Club began as a community nine-hole course in 1928. Donald Ross was engaged in 1945 to reimagine it, and a 1945 drawing credited to Donald J. Ross and J.B. McGovern -- held by the NC State Historic Preservation Office -- shows a proposed expansion from nine to eighteen holes. The course was expanded to a full 18 in 1961 and is now a par-71, 6,385-yard layout with bentgrass greens and two creeks. It markets itself as public golf and also offers memberships.
