Mimosa Hills Country Club

Mimosa Hills traces its roots to the late 1920s, when Morganton, NC residents set out to give their Blue Ridge foothills town a first-class course. They engaged Donald Ross, the Scottish-born architect behind Pinehurst No. 2 and dozens of American classics, who laid out the 18-hole design that opened in 1929. Routed over hilly terrain with panoramic mountain views, the course plays to a par of 72 at just over 6,750 yards and is arranged as two returning nines. In 2003, architect Kris Spence carried out a restoration that reinstated Ross hallmarks such as cross bunkers and original green contours. The result is a walkable, strategically rich layout widely regarded as one of the finer Ross designs remaining in the North Carolina mountains.
