Ocean Forest Golf Club

Ocean Forest opened in 1995 on Sea Island, Georgia, as a private club with a course designed by Rees Jones. The routing works through the interior pines before breaking to the water, skirting salt marsh and the broad Hampton River inlet and finishing dramatically along the Atlantic on the closing holes. The club earned a remarkable honor almost immediately: in 2001 it hosted the 38th Walker Cup, becoming one of the youngest clubs ever selected for the biennial amateur match between the United States and Great Britain and Ireland, with the visitors taking the victory. That same year Ocean Forest also became home to the Jones Cup Invitational, an elite amateur event that grew into a fixture on the winter amateur calendar and is now played annually every January. The combination of championship pedigree and dramatic coastal setting keeps Ocean Forest among the most admired modern courses in the Southeast.
