About Orchards Golf Club
The Orchards Golf Club was commissioned in 1922 by industrialist Joseph A. Skinner, who hired Donald Ross to build a course on former apple-orchard land so his daughter and Mount Holyoke College students could play. Originally nine holes, it was expanded to a full 18 under Ross's guidance in 1927, and the Skinner family donated the club to Mount Holyoke College in 1941. The course retains its original Ross layout and hosted the 2004 U.S. Women's Open, won by Meg Mallon over Annika Sorenstam.
