About Roaring Gap Club
Roaring Gap Club was founded in 1926 by Pinehurst's Leonard Tufts and Winston-Salem business leaders as a private summer retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains, with Donald Ross building the 18-hole course at roughly 3,200 feet elevation. Ross's compact, sporting layout (just over 6,000 yards) includes the "Do-drop" volcano par-3 sixth, with the historic Graystone Inn as clubhouse. In the early 2010s Kris Spence restored the Ross greens and bunkers; the course holds some of the most authentic Ross green complexes in existence.
