The Grand Golf Club is the only Tom Fazio course in San Diego. It opened in 1999 as Meadows Del Mar, part of a residential community, in the canyons beside Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve. The course became part of developer Douglas Manchester's Grand Del Mar resort, and new tees and plantings, added with Fazio's blessing, toughened the layout. Play today is limited to members and resort guests, and groups go out with a forecaddie.
