Callaway Gardens

The Mountain View course at Callaway Gardens, in Pine Mountain, Georgia, opened in 1963 as a collaboration between celebrated architects Dick Wilson and Joe Lee. The par-72 layout plays to roughly 7,050 yards, winding through the resort's characteristic corridors of towering Georgia pines with relatively compact, well-guarded greens that place a premium on precise ball-striking. Mountain View is best known as the longtime host of the PGA Tour's fall stop in Georgia, played here through 2002 under the Southern Open and later Buick Challenge banners, where major champions and noted shotmakers such as Davis Love III, David Duval, David Toms, and Steve Elkington found their way to the winner's circle. Part of a larger resort and horticultural garden complex, the course remains a scenic, tradition-rich stop in west-central Georgia's golf landscape.
