About Charlie Yates Golf Course
Charlie Yates Golf Course is a 9-hole public course in Atlanta's East Lake neighborhood, built on the ground of East Lake's old No. 2 course, which dated to 1930. After the East Lake Foundation, led by developer Tom Cousins, bought the club in 1993, Rees Jones redesigned the old No. 2 into the current layout in 1998. Tiger Woods and East Lake junior golfers hit the first ceremonial drives. The course is named for 1938 British Amateur champion Charlie Yates, who grew up at East Lake with Bobby Jones, and its profits support the East Lake Foundation's community and youth golf programs.
