About Meadow Brook Club
The Meadow Brook Club traces to 1881 as the Meadow Brook Hunt Club, an equestrian and polo institution centered near Westbury. Golf entered the picture with a nine-hole course in 1894, later expanded to eighteen holes. When its original grounds were taken for development in the 1950s, the club moved to Jericho, New York, and reoriented around golf. Architect Dick Wilson selected the Jericho site in October 1953 and drew the plans, and the present course opened in 1955. Sports Illustrated hailed the new layout at the time as having the hallmarks of a classic. Wilson's design is known for its length, large well-bunkered greens, and demanding, honest shot values across gently rolling terrain. Long one of Long Island's premier private courses, Meadow Brook pairs a deep social history rooted in hunting and polo with a mid-century championship-caliber golf course.
