Princeville At Hanalei

Princeville Makai Golf Club opened in 1971 as Robert Trent Jones Jr.'s first solo design and his debut course in Hawaii. It occupies a sloping bluff on Kauai's north shore, high above the Pacific with sweeping views of Hanalei Bay and the island's jade mountains. Originally built as three nines, the layout was later reworked into an 18-hole championship course paired with a nine-hole Woods routing, and a modern renovation replanted every fairway and green in seashore paspalum turf. The par-72 championship course can stretch past 7,200 yards. Its ocean holes are the draw, including the cliff-carry par-3 seventh, which plays over rugged sea cliffs to a bunkered green with surreal mountain-and-ocean backdrops. The course is regularly ranked among the most scenic public tracks in the country.
